About the author

Hi!

I am an economics student with an interest in data science and the goal of contributing to a more just, equitable world. My hope is to use this blog to discuss the relationship between data science and social justice. In particular, I want to equip people who share my goal of improving the world around us with the skills and knowledge required to critically engage with data on their issues of choice. I’ll also discuss ways that data science is used (both unintentionally and maliciously) to reinforce systems of oppression and what we can do about it.

I am currently a PhD student in Harvard’s Business Economics program. I’ve worked on research projects related to development economics, health economics, environmental sustainability, and the economics of innovation. I graduated from MIT in 2020 with a B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, and Economics. My expertise and interests are still very much under development!

My writing is about issues I find interesting and important, and I hope that it helps that others who care about similar topics form a more complete understanding of the issues. I encourage you to read with a critical eye, and I look forward to refining my own opinions with new information and perspectives. I work hard to make sure my views are informed by both evidence and empathy, and I hope that reading them inspires others to do the same. All opinions are my own!

When I am not thinking about economics, data, and social justice, I am hiking, rock climbing, and working on fiber arts projects.
